Bolitho’s Personal Project

Tim Bolitho, the man behind the successful construction company Bolitho Building, has recently completed a personal project that is as much a testament to his company’s capabilities as it is to his own design vision. The home, a collaborative effort with his wife, Bryony, is a striking example of the company’s signature style: a harmonious blend of architectural simplicity and high-quality materials.

Bolitho Building is renowned for its expertise in villa renovations and new builds, but the company’s roots lie in smaller-scale projects. The brief was clear: let the materials shine. And shine, they do. Abodo wood, oak, Canterbury clay bricks, marble, and handcrafted Moroccan tiles are the stars of the show, their beauty enhanced by the clean lines of the architecture.

The house is designed with flexibility in mind, evolving with the needs of the Bolitho family. It was also a deeply personal journey for Tim and his wife. Having complete control over the design process, from material selection to the smallest details, was a rewarding experience.

One standout feature is the expansive 38-metre hallway. At 1600mm wide, it’s more than just a corridor; it’s a space for play, a grand entrance, and a unique architectural statement. To achieve the perfect north-facing orientation for every room, the couple undertook the monumental task of constructing an 80-meter retaining wall.

It’s clear that this is more than just a house for the Bolitho family. It’s a living showcase of Bolitho Building’s talents. And as Bryony says, “A builder’s home is never complete.” But for now, this home is just a small sample of a company’s passion for creating exceptional spaces, and a family’s dream realised.
