A Home Tuned to the Landscape
A home tuned to the landscape
Situated in Fairhall, Marlborough, this multi-level property capitalises on views of the vineyard below with its covered decking to the south, double staircase, and large garage.
This four bedroom home was planned to maximise the breathtaking vistas and accommodate a thoughtfully designed retaining wall that allowed for a 150sqm lawn on the sloping site.
In charge of bringing this build to life, Townley Construction says “a lot of thought needs to go into the early stages of earthworks and desgin to avoid unncecessary costs”.
Townley Construction owner Roger says, “Anderson Architecture came up with a design that worked really well for this section and also gave the clients a great-sized lawn area, which can be hard to achieve on a sloping section like this.”
The owners were able to divide their living spaces across the three floors of the house: the master suite and living areas are at the middle level, the kids’ bedrooms are upstairs, and there’s a sunk-down media room with beautiful in built joinery.
Thanks to its high raftered ceilings, the mezzanine office is perfectly situated in this property. Its exterior is wrapped in a distinctive asymmetrical design made of a combination of plaster and cedar.
Roger says that the build overall ran smoothly, considering that the construction of the house was during a period of material supply issues and shortages. ” Luckily, we were able to secure certain items and materials early to avoid any hold-ups”.
“I think it shows that when the building industry is going through a tough time (worldwide material shortages), forward thinking and high organisation carried out through the project pay off. It means we are a step ahead of others and can still provide a high-quality service that runs smoothly.
“We are big on communication and transparency with our clients throughout the entire build; this once again means we can carry out a smooth, problem-free build.”
