Social light builds the Capsühl Linear to measure, each one scaled to the space it will light
Most pendants come in fixed lengths and leave the room to cope. The Capsühl Linear works the other way. Social Light designs and makes it to order in New Zealand, the client choosing finish, length and drop while the fixture is scaled to the room before it is built.
“Every Capsühl Linear is specified to the space rather than pulled off a shelf,” says Phil Paterson of Social Light. “We work from the client’ dimensions and the proportions of the room, so the fit is exact rather than approximate.”
Proportion is where that work shows. “Scale is the difference between a light that sits in a room and one that commands it.”
“Over a long kitchen island we’ll run it fractionally shorter than the benchtop for visual tension, while in a dining setting we look at the proportion against the table and the ceiling height together, not just the length of the surface below.”
A warm LED runs even down its full length, dimmed from one control. It comes in matte black, brushed brass, natural oak or a custom colour, a clean contemporary line architects and designers reach for.
