What began as a family nursery has evolved into Easy Big Trees, one of New Zealand’s leading suppliers of mature trees, helping create landscapes that look established from day one.

Managing director Chris Harrison is the third generation to lead the nursery, alongside his sons Barney and Ryland Harrison. The team’s expertise spans deciduous, evergreen and native trees, fruit and nut varieties, pleaching and topiary, helping clients choose the right trees for any project.

The nursery’s Harrisons Heritage collection celebrates the family’s long history of growing mature trees. Buyers can search stock through the Tree Finder on the website, book a visit or walk the rows during opening hours.

Easy Big Trees supplies residential gardens, commercial developments, public streetscapes and wholesale customers nationwide, and offers contract growing, producing specific trees for projects planned years in advance.

While it doesn’t undertake planting itself, the team advises on selecting the right specimens, coordinates nationwide delivery and connects clients with trusted planting contractors.

Easy Big Trees cares for trees from the seedling stage right through to a wellestablished
specimen, so a garden, courtyard or street looks transformed as though it has been there for a generation.

Southland’s climate and location help make that possible. A tree raised through southern winters is proven ready for conditions throughout New Zealand, from Central Otago’s cool winters to exposed street plantings and coastal sites.

Mature specimens and hedging have been supplied to residential and commercial projects nationwide, including Millbrook Resort, Blanket Bay Lodge and The Hills at Arrowtown, as well as streets and urbanscapes throughout Central Otago, Dunedin, Ashburton, Invercargill, Queenstown and Rolleston.

More recently, the nursery provided mature plantings to Ayrburn in Queenstown, where established trees and hedging complement the existing gardens and enhance the manicured landscape.

More than a century after the Harrison family began growing trees, care and experience remain the nursery’s greatest strengths. Every mature specimen represents years of cultivation before reaching its final planting site, continuing to shape landscapes that look established from the moment they’re planted.
