Designed for discovery
Quantum’s portfolio of timeless, classic design delivers style and practical performance, with a carefully curated range of surfaces to enhance the spaces people live and work in.
Director at Quantum, Larry Harrison says: “While we stock an extensive collection of products here in New Zealand, our real passion lies in a collaborative approach.” Quantum works closely with architects, designers, and their clients from the early design stages. Closely connected with many of the world’s leading manufacturers and brands, Quantum is well placed to source bespoke and unique materials for any project surface.
The Newmarket showroom is a design destination, offering the ideal mix of industry partners, in a central location.
“While a great deal of thought went into the overall design, there were existing architectural elements to work with. The stairs, raised areas, and sloping floors all required careful consideration to ensure they were incorporated without compromising display space,” says Larry.

The focus was on creating immediate visual impact upon entry. While the tiled surfaces and displays make a warm, textural impact, the cascading, organic form of the custom feature pendant provides a sculptural focal point and takes full advantage of the generous vertical volume in the space.
Spatial designer Ellen Gonzalez of Murano Plus, designed a selection of 14 hand cast opaque white glass pendants, chosen from the Smelten Cloud and Olge pendant ranges. Ellen worked in collaboration with Quantum director Larry Harrison, with early input by Katie Scott of Sticks and Stones. Ellen says: “The combination of symmetrical and organic forms emits a soft internal glow. The purity of the white glass provides a deliberate contrast to the richly textured tiles surrounding it, allowing both materials to enhance one another.”
A series of in-situ bathroom displays draws people in and guides them through the space, opening up toward the rear where the scale of the showroom becomes more apparent.

The central area is dedicated to consultation and design, with concepts and product displays positioned around the perimeter. Larry says: “We wanted to create a sense of discovery by introducing new points of interest as you move from front to back. Ultimately, well-presented wall and floor products are what people come to see, and we feel the space delivers on that.”
The initial showroom designs and layouts were developed with Katie from Sticks and Stones. “Katie’s ability to visualise the end result is exceptional, and we used her concepts as the foundation for the project. From there, we worked alongside BH Construction to bring the space to life. While we began with a clear plan, the flexibility of the BH team, along with cabinetry supplied by Surestyle, allowed us to refine and adapt as the project evolved,” says Larry.
Ben from BH Construction says: “Our collaboration with Larry, the Quantum team, and Katie Scott was built on close coordination, shared vision, and attention to detail. The end result is an impressive show space, which are very proud to have played our part.”

The surfaces were carefully selected and adapted to ensure they perform both aesthetically and practically within the showroom environment. Displays needed to be visually compelling while also demonstrating real-life applications.
We incorporated a range of installation styles and formats to showcase versatility, allowing designers and clients to better visualise how each material might work within their own projects. Durability and ease of maintenance were also key considerations, ensuring the space remains functional while continuing to present at a high level over time.
Quantum’s move into stone marks an exciting new chapter. While the category is both technical and complex, the materials themselves are truly unique and refined.
“Stone has long been an area of interest and something we have wanted to explore for many years. This range continues to evolve, and we are already proud to see it specified in a number of premium projects across the country,” says Larry.

While tile and stone form the core of Quantum’s offering, cork remains a unique and increasingly popular material. It continues to generate strong interest across a variety of projects.
Used in both commercial and residential settings, cork offers warm, textural qualities that bring character to a space, along with a compelling sustainability story.
“We believe this showroom will become a valuable destination for the design community in Auckland and beyond. The displays have been thoughtfully designed to showcase complete tile collections that are not only visually striking but also exclusive to Quantum,” says Larry.
Alongside this, the curated stone offering provides an additional layer of inspiration and possibility. It is a space where designers can confidently bring their clients, knowing their projects will be supported with care, attention, and a genuine commitment to achieving a beautiful result.
The Quantum showroom is a place for collaboration, creativity, and bringing ideas to life.
